Migration intelligence
DIN SPEC 70121 ISO 15118-2

DIN SPEC 70121 deployments cannot support Plug & Charge. Migration to ISO 15118-2 requires firmware update or hardware replacement. Most first-gen CCS infrastructure entered EOL planning 2022–2025.

Security layer
No TLS mandate
DIN SPEC predates mandatory TLS. Communication unencrypted in most deployments.
No certificate auth
RFID UID only. No PKI, no contract certificates.
Risk profile
High: plaintext communication, no mutual auth. Addressed via OCPP Security Profiles at management layer.
